We thank you for your support.  Ashland Cares has been evolving.  We continue to do our best to assist those who are in crisis and are proud to say we've helped hundreds since we opened a short time ago.   Our main focus is homelessness with our main goal of opening of a full shelter.  We will continue to work with other agencies to help those who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.

We hope that, now more than ever, you will continue to support our cause and spread the word to others.

Remember - We are a COMMUNITY BASED organization that relies on local donations and support to sustain itself.  Our volunteers are not paid.  The board of directors is not paid.  We strive to bring the community together by setting an example of giving.  We do have to cover our utilities and program costs so your tax deductible cash donation is always appreciated.

Some of our expenses include insurance, transportation, heat, electric, phone, internet service as well as the overhead of our program costs.  All of which are needed to keep our office open and to continue to provide our services to the area and to our clients and partner agencies.

"You Don't Need A Reason To Help Someone"

Our main focus is bringing people together to fix the things we know how to fix and to find solutions for the ones we don't. We want to do it on a larger and faster scale though. They say one person can make a difference.   Imagine what a group of people can do.

We want to bring the  f e e l i n g  of community back.   Many will argue and say that that feeling is already here and that people do open doors and carry a bag for someone.  To a limited extent, that's true.  It changes though, literally, with the clothing a person is wearing or the image one has of another.     There is a predisposed image of the homeless.   Let's clear that up.   Look in the mirror, look at your friends, look at your family.   THAT is the image of the homeless.  It can be ANYONE, at anytime for just about any reason.   Only AFTER  we provide shelter and safety - is it relevant.   Than we can provide information to the individual or family and try to point them in the right direction to get the help that matches their needs most.

To use this great tool we call the Internet to bring more people back together again - of all ages. Those of us who grew up with out the net know the value of the relationships we had with people from all walks of life and from all ages.
People don't always have control over their situation or how they get there, and really, it's irrelevant. The main goal is to get those out there that aren't in a safe place - safe. It could be a room, a meal, a jacket, or it could be as simple as saying, "Can I help You ?" Making that effort when someone is just unable (for whatever reason) to reach out on their own.
That's what brought us to our motto - "You don't need a reason to help people".
